2008 ILLINOIS RIVER FEST

Experience the "Enviroscape" watershed model, and see how pollution makes its way into our rivers

Indian Nation's Audubon Society:
Take a "birding" field trip with expert guides!

J.T. Nickel Preserve:
See all of the exciting conservation efforts made in this beautiful 17,000 acre preserve located in Eastern Oklahoma. Also, explore the various recreational opportunities the Nickel Preserve has to offer.

OK Dept. of Environmental Quality (ODEQ):
Learn all about recycling in Oklahoma. Educate yourself on your options and how you can do more with less.

National Guard:
Get a chance to try your hand at rock-climbing on the National Guard's rock-climbing wall!

Learn all about stream hydrology with OSU's Stream Trailer! This trailer simulates a river's behavior, including its natural tendency to meander, and its potential to be altered by actions both upstream and downstream.

Lake Patrol:
See what it takes to be safe while on the water. Life jackets or PFD's (personal flotation devices) will be displayed as well as an assortment of water and boating safety information

Walkabout Wildlife Sanctuary:
Meet Tahlequah's own Steve Irwin! Ben Sparks of Walkabout will bring a variety of animals, including a giant tortoise, 3 python snakes, an iguana, and maybe even a baby crocodile!

Tahlequah Community Garden:
Learn what the Tahlequah's community garden is doing to eat fresh and local food, and the benefits of doing so.

OK Green Business Alliance:
Come educate yourself on the many ways you can make your home more green, from renewable energy sources like wind, solar and biodiesel, to the wide variety of eco-friendly building materials.
