RANCHERS' CORNER

DID YOU KNOW THAT...

The smallest type of cow is a breed called Dexter, which was bred for household living.
Cows were domesticated about 5,000 years ago.
  Cows can see color.
Cows can hear lower and higher frequencies better than humans.
Cows can detect odors up to 5 miles away.
Per day, a cow spends 8 hours chewing cud and 6 hours eating.
A cow stands up and lies down about 14 times a day.
A cow's heart beats between 60 and 70 beats per minute.
The oldest recorded horse was a barge horse in England known as "Old Billy". He lived till the grand old age of 62!
It is estimated that there are about 750 million horses in the world and over 300 different breeds.
Modern racehorses all possess very similar genes, making it VERY hard to pick a winner!
